Former president Joyce Banda yesterday left the country for the United States of America just over a month after she lost the presidency in the May 20 polls. People’s Party (PP) acting publicity secretary Ken Msonda confirmed the trip but could not say its purpose and how long the former president would be abroad. He referred the matter to her press secretary Steve Nhlane who could not pick his phone. Woman arrested over husband’s death

Police in Ntchisi have arrested Margaret John, 32, on allegations that she killed her husband in April this year and concealed his death. According to the deceased’s brother Kapala Ching’ombe, the body of Aaron Ching’ombe, 44, was found last Thursday, in a toilet where John allegedly dumped it. He said police and a medical officer visited the scene and post-mortem results revealed death was caused due to head injury and internal bleeding. John comes from Kapombe Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Vusojere in the district. — GLADSON M’BUMPHA, Correspondent
