Salima district youth officer Jessy Mwansambo has urged youths from Traditional Authority Chisamba to join youth networks to share ideas on how to run different economic activities.

Speaking on Saturday during the launch of a youth network in T/A Chisamba, she said youth networks are important because they help the youth to realise their dreams in different ventures.

Said Mwansambo: “There are many opportunities for those who take part in youth activities.

“For example, in our case, those who are qualified to take courses under Technical, Entrepreneurial, Vocational Education and Training Authority courses such as carpentry and others stand a better chance to be selected and that girls can even study for free.”

She further said the youth clubs should strengthen the relationship among themselves while following gender equality when choosing their leaders and carrying out the groups’ activities.

“I encourage you all in your respective clubs and T/A Chisamba Youth Network to develop clear development plans and vision of improving your youth clubs,” said Mwansambo.

T/A Chisamba encouraged the youth in their respective clubs to work hard and employ income-generating ideas first and not focus on receiving handouts.

“You are young and energetic. I expect you to focus on developing your groups. I also urge you to refrain from sexual immorality,” he said.

The network, which comprises people aged between 10 and 35, seeks to enhance youth’s involvement and commitment to personal and national development issues.
