Jomo accuses FAM of stealing women’s FA show
Vocal women’s football official Isaac Jomo Osman has hit out at Football Association of Malawi (FAM) leadership for allegedly stealing the spotlight from National Women’s Football Association.
In a voice note that went viral on social media. Osman, who owns Kukoma Ntopwa FC accused FAM leadership of hijacking the women’s FA’s responsibilities, citing the Scorchers as an example.
With his voice straining with emotion, he said: “You are running away from your responsibilities of revamping men’s national team and
instead you are stealing the show from the women’s FA, in particular its president Adelaide Migogo.

to revamp men’s football.

“You are failing to recognise the women’s FA president just because she did not support you during elections.
“What did Adela Migogo wrong you? Why are you mistreating this woman? You are evil [and] should be embarrassed.
“They [FAM] are failing to improve the men’s game and for those of us who have genuine love for women’s football, we will not accept that.”
Osman also accused FAM of neglecting pioneers of women’s football, saying they are not recognised.
“Now you are celebrating [the Scorchers’ qualification to Women’s Africa Cup of Nations]. What are you celebrating when you are not helping women’s football? It’s a shame,” he said.
Osman said if FAM does not want the women’s FA, “then you should just abolish it and women’s football should be run by the FAM president because in essence, you are literally running its operations”.
He said: “We will not tolerate this nonsense. In fact, women’s football is facing several challenges because of your greed.
“Why are you oppressing women? We won’t tolerate such kind of leaders. When you do something good, we praise you, similarly when you are not doing the right things, we will speak out.
“Time will come and you will go just like the others who were there before you.”
In an interview, Osman owned the voice note, saying he was just putting the record straight.
He said: “I do not think it is wrong to speak out when things are not going well. Let the women’s FA run women’s football. It is not fair to hijack their show and take credit for something you don’t deserve.
“It is a fact that the women’s FA is being sidelined and FAM is running the show.
On whether he has made an effort to take his concerns to FAM’s leadership, Osman said: “The problem is that they brand whosoever criticizes them as an enemy.”
Haiya had not responded to Weekend Nation’s questionnaire by 5pm press time yesterday while Migogo could not be reached for comment.
