Happy to be in Malawi: Chameleon

The long wait is over. After failing to come and perform in Malawi twice, Ugandan musician Dr. Jose Chameleon is in town for his anticipated tour of the country.

Real name Joseph Manyanja, Chameleon was supposed to perform in Malawi in March but due to what organisers Linc Promotions termed some unforeseen circumstances, the Ugandan failed to make it. The shows were shifted to April but he never made it again.

“Lilongwe, Malawi here I come. Full band loaded 6, 7 and 8 September are the dates,” read his status update on social media Facebook a few days ago.

And speaking upon arrival at Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe, Chameleon said he was happy to be in Malawi.

“It feels like home because the welcome is so hearty. My band and I are looking forward to a wonderful experience being our first time. I am not here to sing, but to perform. So buckle up and brace yourself for it will be a showcase,” he mused.

Hopes of his coming were dashed yesterday when it was reported that he missed his flight from Kenya to Lilongwe. Only his 11 member band managed to find their way to Malawi ahead of three shows that have been lined up. However, he made it yesterday afternoon.

Chameleon’s first appearance will be in Blantyre tonight at Comesa Hall, Mungo Park is up next the following day before wrapping up with an afternoon show the Lilongwe Golf Club on Sunday.
