Coaches Ernest Mtawali and Gerald Phiri are fine-tuning the Junior Flames ahead of Saturday’s meeting with their Zambian counterparts at Kamuzu Stadium.

The Junior Chipolopolo were expected in Blantyre yesterday for the first leg of the final qualifying round for 2015 Africa Youth Championship in Senegal.

Mtawali and Phiri have been quoted in the media as saying that they aim at delivering goods at home as Zambia “are ruthless and we need to win at home to enhance our chances of qualifying.”

Zambia Daily Mail newspaper, quoting Zambia Football Association (FAZ) publicist Nkweto Tembwe, reported that the Junior Chipolopolo also have the services of defender Peter Mulenga who turns out for Swedish top league side IF Monifidi.

The newspaper added that Zambia coach Hector Chilombo has kept faith in the team that eliminated Mozambique 4-0 over two legs.

Malawi Under-20 dismissed highly-fancied Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 3-1 on aggregate with Chawanangwa Kawonga among the leading scorers.

The second leg will be played in Zambia after two weeks with the overall winner booking the ticket to the finals.
