Kamwendo, Kasenda revel inCAF B success
Creck Sporting Club coach Joseph Kamwendo has said acquiring the CAF B Licence will boost his budding coaching career.
The former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Malawi National Football Team midfielder, who has also plied his trade in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Denmark, is among 20 coaches who passed the examinations on Friday.

Said Kamwendo: “Passing examinations means a lot to me. I thank my family, my club Creck Sporting for supporting me and FAM for organising the course. Last year, I was under pressure because I did not have the qualification which is the minimum qualification to coach a Super League team. It will also enhance my coaching career and lay the foundation for me to pursue CAF A.”
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) yesterday released the names of those who passed the examinations.
Reads a statement in part from FAM: “The Football Association of Malawi is pleased to announce the names of 20 coaches who have successfully completed the CAF B Coaching License course which run between 26th August 2024 and 19th December 2024.
“The programme attracted 25 participants, but only 23 managed to complete the course.
“The late Gift Mkamanga, Chitipa United’s assistant coach, passed on during the course while Victor Mphande withdrew due to his mother’s illness. Out of the 23 participants, three did not meet the required standards. The CAF B Licence is the minimum coaching qualification required for coaching a Super League team, which is the top-flight league in Malawi.”
On her part, Linda Kasenda, who is Civo Women, Malawi Under-17 Women’s Football Team coach as well as Mpira M.mudzi Mwathu team manager, said she was excited to acquire the qualification.
“I am really happy that I passed this CAF B licence. It is everyone’s wish to pass after sitting an examination,” she said.
Others, who have passed are former FCB Nyasa Bullets players Mapopa Msukwa Andrew Chikhosi, Jimmy Zakazaka, Heston Munthal and Robert Ng’ambi, former Red Lions striker Malumbo Mkandawire, Steven Mkwinika, Nicholas Mhango, Chisomo Nkhoma, Elia Phiri, George Sangala, Karen Chaula, MacMillan Maziya, Elvis Kafoteka, Jomo Osman, Davie Mpima Jnr, Enock Mhone and Chancy Nsema.
