Kamwendo won’t feature for Nomads

Mighty Wanderers will have to face the harsh reality that their playmaker Joseph Kamwendo, who is tipped to start a new lease of life at a top Mozambican club Desportivo Liga Maculmana, will not feature in their remaining TNM Super League assignments.

Broker of the deal James Pondomale of Intersport Mozambique said the club wants the player immediately to start preparations for the 2013 CAF Confederations Cup.

“I spoke to Wanderers chairperson George Chamangwana and he said they have no problems issuing his clearance now.

“We are just waiting for Football Association of Malawi (FAM) to issue the player’s ITC [international transfer certificate] and we have already started the process through their commercial manager Casper Jangale,” said Pondomale.

He also said Maculmana, who also have Malawian internationals Simplex Nthala and Zicco Mkanda, will soon travel to South Africa for pre-season training.

Chamangwana said Nomads will definitely miss Kamwendo’s services.

“He led the team by sheer sense of will. All the same, we wish him all the best as he plans to start a new chapter with Maculmana,” said Chamangwana.

The Nomads have five games to wrap up the league.
