But in town were Zambian Afro-pop singer Yo Maps and his Malawian counterpart Kell Kay. The setting was Linde Lounge, one of the fast-blossoming entertainment joints in Mzuzu.

The call by the two artists was evidently appealing as fans defied the cold weather to fill up the entertainment space to the brim.

Before the two artists took to the stage, VJ Ice made sure the patrons were put in the mood of what was in store for the night. He dished out some of the trendiest tunes, both local and international.

At exactly 10.38pm, the backing band of the night came on stage. After minutes of sound tuning, the engine rolled into gear.

That signalled the arrival on stage of the first main act in Kell Kay. As expected, the audience roared, giving an ovation to the singer.

In return of the goodwill, Kell Kay dished out some of his most lovable compositions. He then left the stage with a promise to come back.

Then came the moment and the man. Yo Maps made his first appearance in the city and it was a grand moment. The welcome was huge.

His rendition of So Mone, a song he did with Malawian rapper Tay Grin cemented the solid connection he has with the Malawian music business.

That was not all, however, as after a few songs, the singer queued in the popular song Banaphwanya, a duet with his brother in music Kell Kay.

In the very instant, Kell Kay found himself on stage much to the delight of the crowd.

The synergy and understanding on display was such a marvel. They seemed to enjoy the time on stage together and the fans loved it.

After his stay on stage, Kell Kay lived up to his word and returned on stage.

He gave the patrons a chance to select songs they wanted him to perform from his catalogue of compositions.

His performance took the show into the early hours of Sunday. The electrifying experience that people enjoyed made it feel like it was not cold at all.
