In response to the aftermath of Cyclone Freddy, which hit the country last week, the United Kingdom based NGO Khalsa Aid International has donated relief items to aid the affected 2030 households in Thyolo, Chikwawa, Zomba and Mulanje districts.

The donation consists of essential items such as maize flour, soya pieces, salt, cooking oil, rice, soap, 2.3kg black plastic, blanket, water bucket, candles and box of matches.

Speaking in an interview, one member of the organisation Marcus Lapsa said they will continue with the distribution in other affected districts.

He said: “We hope that the distribution will alleviate the suffering of those affected, and we are committed to continuing our support for ongoing relief efforts while conducting further assessments to identify additional needs.”

Khalsa Aid has been providing assistance in Malawi for several years, offering essential resources such as water boreholes, sanitary hygiene kits, school desks, food packs, and other necessary items. http://www.khalsaaid.org
