KK Security was born on the shores of the Indian Ocean in Mombasa, Kenya, but today it has extended its footprint to over 17 countries in the Common Market for Eastern Southern Africa (Comesa) courtesy of its belief in using locally available resources and training.

Undeniably, security at both national and household level is important and KK Security group training manager Lucas Ndolo, who flew from Kenya to witness the training and a passing-out parade of 40 security officers, argued on Friday last week that their company provides more than security.

KK, which stands for Kenya Kazi and loosely means providing work for Kenyans, today does not only provide work and quality security solutions to Kenyans only.

He argues that due to their belief in training, integrity and respect, they provide more than guards. He notes that they provide security officers, people who are trained in more skills than just opening the gate.

“Customers who require opening and closing of gates services, we have solutions for them and not our security officers,” he said.

He argued that their officers, at the end of their 12-day training, are equipped with a range of skills, including communication, first aid and customer service, as well as how to put out fire.

Announcing acquisition of Group One Security, one of the leading companies in the country, KK Malawi country manager Dimitri Kalaitzis notes that the takeover will improve the company’s performance in Malawi.

KK started its operations in Malawi in September 2013 through the acquisition of Group One Armed and Armoured in Malawi.

Based in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Mangochi, KK provides safety and security solutions to an economy that is in demand of a world-class service provider in the provision of manned security, canine security and cash management solutions in Malawi.

KK says it is bringing to Malawi significant expertise in training, people management and operational efficiencies that result in management of risks, increased resilience and reliable outcomes for the clients.

With human resource of just over 1 300 and 28 vehicles, KK Malawi is dedicated to ensuring their clients receive bespoke solutions and service built on quality, innovation and integrity.

Ndolo, however, notes that the company, which will rebrand fully in the next four months, will provide the best incentives and will train the rest of the guards to security officers.

Speaking as guest of honour during the parade, SRK Consulting logistics and security manager, Jean Roux, applauded KK Security for bringing the service to Malawi.
