Lake of Stars returns October
Lake of Stars (LoS) will return to Fish Eagle Bay Lodge in Nkhotakota from October 17 to 19 this year.
The festival returned last year after a four-year break due to changes in management and effects of Covid-19.
In a press statement released yesterday, the festival’s executive director Shamilla Ellias-Taijala said the event venue will continue to build on the impact it had made last year while promoting arts and culture.

“The festival has made a tangible difference in Nkhotakota, boosting the hospitality industry, driving development and uplifting the local community. We feel compelled to return not only to build on our vision, but also to celebrate the progress we have made,” she said.
Every year, the event brings local and international talent to showcase cultures to a global audience as it attracts people from various countries, including Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and even Europe.
The festival will take place in October instead of September to give room to the election period which will conclude in the same month.
LoS head of media Zilanie Gondwe said the team will set up an App where artists and vendors can register while seeking potential partnerships and sponsorship from stakeholders.
“We are inviting partners and sponsors to join us on this journey. Apart from promoting arts, we want to amplify our efforts and show the impact of the festival on the community and how it can be used to uplift them,” she said.
Gondwe said they will announce ticket sales, headline acts and partnerships from April to May and that fans should expect a line-up performance by both local and international artists who will be revealed later .
She said this year’s edition will be a blend of traditional rhythms like manganje with international sounds from Europe and other countries.
“Festival goers should look forward to live music, fashion, visual arts, poetry, storytelling, dance, DJ sets, Masterclasses, beach sports and family friendly activities,” said Gondwe.
Since its inception, the festival has hosted various international acts.
Last year’s event was headlined by South African Sho Madjozi alongside Zeze Kingston and Temwah.
