This and That

Let’s embrace local streaming sites

For an extensive duration, our entertainment landscape has been characterized by our heavy reliance on streaming services that have been developed in various countries around the world.

This reliance has shaped the way we access and enjoy content, prompting us to explore media using sites and applications developed from beyond our borders, that’s an area we had to look into and provide solutions.

However, it is a universal truth that whenever challenges manifest, a solution-oriented individual steps forward to navigate the extent of problems. The individual’s technical ability to dissect complications and present practical answers stands as a testament to human adaptability.

That being the case, a groundbreaking resolution to this dependency has emerged thanks to the ingenuity of Steve Ng’omayacheza, who is working with Extratech Solutions. He is a shining example of an exceptional individual. Through his effort, he has brought to life the Mingoli app, a platform that has brought joy to artists and provided them with a means to connect and flourish.

The app has facilitated gospel artists to make a name for themselves and gain recognition, as well as allowing fans to access and enjoy gospel music that they would not have otherwise been able to. But Steve’s dream goes beyond a section of music industry, he has set his eyes on the whole industry from gospel, who are enjoying now, to secular musicians.

The Blantyre resident said he wanted to give musicians a platform to reach out to a lot of viewers at a goal and see the feedback on how their song is trending out there. Instead of sharing the actual song, they will share the link which will increase viewership of their song.

This is satisfactory as one of our own has come up with such a project that clears most of our stumbling blocks in music industry such as distribution, promotion as well as profitability, putting aside royalty distribution issues that rose weeks ago.

Steve said, if all goes well, they will discuss with mobile providers to launch Mingoli bundles so that we may buy the bundles as we do on with WhatsApp bundles, Facebook bundles, among others.

In Malawi, when these types of people come up with innovations, we do not give each other the needed support, but the norm has to change. This project will take our country to greater dimensions that we have not reached before.

Doing it personally, we cannot dodge the fact that the app needs money to make sure it is up and running, people have to search their pockets, to make the dream a reality. Sometimes the band width run out while people are listening to songs, Steve needs sponsors and partners so that we can own a new version of Spotify.

Mingoli app is on testing stage but it is over 53,000 views. Isn’t that encouraging? Not every artist knows how to register to streaming sites out there but having a local streaming site in our hands will get all those artists having difficulties out of the mud.

As any other streaming sites, Mingoli doesn’t allow music downloads, solving the problem of sharing songs that has been here for several years. Now artists who have registered will enjoy the benefits of their amusing talents.

A reason to smile for musicians who have produced lakes of tears by the norm Malawians were used to, 50 downloads that was seeing the song almost everywhere.

The app has features such as drive mode, sleep timer, reports, song words, play listing, among other features.

If such innovations are taken seriously, art industry can move steps ahead of where it is currently.
