The Lipipa Fantasy League has embarked on a nationwide tour sensitising people to the competition, thereby increasing participation in the next edition.

Sponsor of the league Noel Lipipa, who is also a legislator for Blantyre City South, said although he is happy that the inaugural K1 million contest is achieving its purpose of promoting modern recreation channels for the youth in the country, he would like to see more participants in the next edition.

The league sees each competitor choosing 15 preferred players from any English Premier League (EPL) teams at the beginning of the season. They gain maximum points once they guess right the first 11 players that eventually feature on a particular match day.

“Much as we have the most subscribed league, we have not reached out to the number that was projected at the very beginning of the competition last year; hence, seeing it important to engage people throughout the country,” he said.

The league’s director Prince Elvin Magombo said the sensitisation tour will see him and fellow organisers Alfred Kazembe and Daniel Chikhawo visiting different entertainment joints, colleges and community halls, where fun lovers gather to watch EPL matches.

“During these engagements, we will also randomly give out different prizes such as T-shirts and airtime,” he said.

A Blantyre resident, Otiyela Mtema, was last month winner among the 460-contestants with 306 points to take home K50 000 and a T-shirt. Mark Kawanga, who came out with 284 points, was the runner-up.
