Magalasi, Shonga out on bail
Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) chief executive officer Collins Magalasi, businessperson Dorothy Shonga and two other MERA officials Patrick Maulidi and Bright Mbewe who are answering fraud and money laundering charges have been released on bail after spending days in custody.
Chief Resident Magistrate’s Court in Lilongwe granted the bail on condition that each of the four pay bail a bond of K500 000 and each should produce two sureties bonded at K5 million non cash.
They are also to report to police once every fortnight, should not leave central region without alerting the court, should not interfere with witnesses and that they surrender their travel documents.
