Silver Strikers defender Lucky Malata has reportedly done enough to earn a contract with South Africa Premier Soccer League rookies, Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Silver chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale on Wednesday confirmed being informed by facilitator Patrick Mabedi that Malata had after failing at BidVest Wits University, made it during trials.

“That’s what Madedi has told me, but we will wait for them to write us,” said Mafuta-Mwale while Mabedi referred The Nation to the player’s South Africa management firm Prosport International.

The firm’s official Michael Makaab had not responded to a questionnaire on Wednesday, but South Africa magazine Soccer Laduma, through their online edition of Tuesday, confirmed.

“Malata was part of the Aces team on Saturday that took part in a four team pre-season tournament at BidVest Stadium. It seems that he did enough in that tournament to convince Clive Barker and his technical team to sign him,” Soccer Laduma reported.

Aces website only confirmed the signing of Zimbabwean defender Method Mwanjali, goalkeeper Calvin Marlin and Brazilian defender Eduaro Ferreira.
