Malawi marketers’ 2024 conference gathers pace
Preparations for this year’s Institute of Marketing in Malawi (IMM) Marketers’ Conference, set to take place from October 31st to November 2nd, 2024, at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi are gathering pace.
According to IMM vice-president and chairperson of the conference organising committee George Damson, this year’s theme, “Innovate to Elevate: Leveraging Technology for Marketing Success,” promises to ignite a forward-thinking dialogue among marketing professionals in Malawi.
Over the past four years, IMM is one of the most visible professional bodies in Malawi whose events attract a lot of interest from across the board.
Damson said this year, the conference will bring together a prestigious line-up of speakers such as Themba Nkuna and Akniribido John O from South Africa, Nzanzala Mwaura from Uganda, Jose Alfaro from the United States and Malawi’s own Chinga Chaguluka.
He said: “These industry leaders will share insights on how technology is redefining the marketing landscape and empowering individuals and businesses to achieve unprecedented success.
“And we are geared to once again host another successful conference. We carefully selected our theme to underscore the importance of innovation in our ever-evolving industry.”
Damson further said the theme reflects the institute’s commitment to equipping marketers with the knowledge and tools needed to harness technological advancements for enhanced marketing effectiveness.
The conference will start during the morning of the 31st with a golf tournament before the official opening in the afternoon and end on the night of the 1st of November with the most sought-after professional bodies’ awards event in the country.
Highlighting the conference’s agenda are several notable activities, including the Marketing Excellence Awards Gala, which will recognise outstanding contributions by companies and individuals alike.
Additionally, there will be a graduation ceremony for the 2024 cohort of the Digital Marketing Programme, a collaborative initiative with the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe.
A CSR activity is scheduled, aimed at giving back to the community and fostering a spirit of advancing the greater good over self among participants which is something IMM does every single year during its conference.
A significant component of this year’s conference will be the Institute’s elective Annual General Meeting (AGM), where a new board will be ushered into office.
This year’s conference is expected to draw participants from the Zambia Institute of Marketing with whom IMM enjoys a very cordial relationship as IMM has been represented at Zambia Institute of Marketing’s conference and awards gals for the past 5 years.
