The Flames once again made a ‘slow, but sure’ one-step jump on the July Fifa/Coca-Cola rankings. They moved from 109 to 108 while on the continent and Cosafa football bloc they are 30th and fifth respectively.

In Cosafa, Malawi is behind top ranked South Africa who are ninth in Africa and 59th in the world followed on 10th and 60th position by Zambia, who have slipped 11 places. Angola follow on 96th place and 26th in Africa whereas Mozambique ranked 102 in the world are 27th on the continent.

Ivory Coast remain on the top of Africa rankings, but are placed 13th in the world while Ghana, Mali, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Tunisia are rated second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh on the continent respectively.

On the world level, Ghana is ranked 24, Mali 28, Algeria 34, Nigeria 35 and Tunisia 47th.

Brazil’s stunning victory over Spain in the Fifa Confederations Cup final has helped them leap 13 places to ninth position. Spain, nevertheless, held on to the top spot ahead of Germany while Colombia climbed four places to number 3.
