Malawi Under-17 football team through with preps

The Malawi Under-17 football team on Wednesday finished a 10-day first camp training in preparation for Zone V1 Youth Games scheduled for early December in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

The camping, which consisted of 22 players Football Association of Malawi (FAM) called early this month, was held at Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) situated in Thyolo District.

Under-17 coach Elia Kananji told The Nation that preparations have gone on well and thanked FAM for the initiative, saying it has enabled him to identify good players that can represent the team well during the youth tournament.

“I am happy with the arrangement. I can assure you that the preparation has gone on well and even if the tournament can be shifted to be played today, we can do better having secured good players,” said Kananji.

According to Kananji, the team will meet again in 20 November for final preparations before heading to Zimbabwe in December.

The squad consists of Dalisto Chindamba, Buliyani Ndaipidwa, Chagaga Mwayi, Lwanda Yusuf, Nachipo Gregory, Levison Maganizo, Christopher Mikuwa, Edwin Carlos, Abraham Simkonda, Ohno Kang’oma, Kudakwashe Sauzande, Emmanuel Lino, Joseph Chisale, Nickson Nyasulu, Shafil Jack Mdoka, Mcdonald Njunga, Thokozani Harrison, Rodgers Kamwendo, Spencer Msowoya, Limbani Phiri, Nangaunozge Luhanga and Precious Msosa.

South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola and the host Zimbabwe will take part in the tournament.
