“I am currently working on an EP titled Made In Africa which is being produced and recorded in Cape Town with the input of Malawian and South African rappers, singers and producers, including Yung Ozi, Trey Pistol, Nepman, Slaybeats and Dezert Eagle.

“Made In Africa is scheduled to be released in September and two singles from the EP—What Happened to Me and Let me Shine—are already out online. I have also released a video for Let Me Shine which was shot in Cape Town,” he said.

The artist, who grew up in Blantyre’s Ndirande Township, says he started music at the age of 12 and his interest in rap started when his friend lent him an MC Hammer cassette.

“My first recording was in 1996 at Goodson Gomonda Music Studio in Blantyre. I was 14 years old then and did this recording under a group we formed with my friend Refu. We used to call ourselves YFT,” Snag said.

Before moving to South Africa in 2014, he says he worked with a number of rappers and producers, including King Bywel C, Criminal A, Daredevils, Dominant 1, Revolver and MC Sibweni.

The single releases have had their fair share of online streaming, downloading and airplay on several radio stations in Malawi. n
