Man nabbed for defiling, killing a 6-year-old
Police in Likoma District on Wednesday arrested Arthur Mtambo, 24, for allegedly defiling and strangling a girl to death in the district.
Likoma Police Station spokesperson Mcliff Ngulube said the suspect will appear in court soon to answer murder and defilement charges.
He said on May 1 2018, the girl was visiting her grandparents with her mother but she left her mother there to go home.
“But when the mother returned home, her daughter had disappeared. The matter was reported to police who after few days, found the body in a trench,” he said.
Mtambo comes from Kabuthu Village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Mkumpha in the district.
In a related development, police in Chitipa have arrested Givess Malongwi Vinkhumbo, 22, for allegedly killing his father.
