Maskal to release Umunthu videos

R&B lovers should anticipate for more fun and surprises as Malawian Afro-R&B singer Maskal is set to release videos from his Umunthu album come early April.

Umunthu album, containing 10 tracks, was launched at Limbe Country Club in Malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre last November and video shooting started in January.

“As of now, I am almost half done with the production of Umunthu videos. Shooting of five videos has been done and early April, I will just release two of the 10 tracks from the album for people to sample as I have tried to come up with something better from the first album,” said Maskal.

The singer said the shooting was disrupted by the rains that have been falling frequently for the past weeks; hence, only the five songs were recorded, but once the weather normalises, the remaining five will be done and a DVD will be produced.

The five tracks shot are Zili ndi Iwe, Chikondi, Kudzagwa Mvula, Usatope and Umamva Bwanji?

Speaking on the treatment he got from the African Movie Academy Awards (Amaa) organisers, who dumped him at the 11th hour and how he threatened to take a law suit against them, Maskal said the issue is now water under the bridge and he holds no grudges.

“We managed to sort out everything. I understood the fact that a lot of things were happening so fast and at once and it was difficult for the organisers to coordinate all those things and am not bitter,” said Maskal.
