Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and Supersport Television will beam the Flames’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Group D qualifier against Ethiopia this afternoon.

The match kicks off at 4pm at Zimpeto Stadium in Maputo, Mozambique and local football fans will be able to follow the events as they unfold from the comfort of their homes and entertainment joints.

In an interview yesterday, MBC controller of commercial services Theresa Sungani said they were planning to show the match on both MBC TV and MBC 2 On the Go.

She said: “We will definitely show the match and we are just finalising some logistics.”

MBC secured broadcasting rights for the qualifiers through Confederation of African Football television rights agents.

Multichoice Malawi corporate affairs manager Zena Makunje also confirmed that the Group D qualifier will be beamed on selected SuperSport channels.

She said: “The game will broadcast tomorrow at 15:45 on SuperSport GOtv from GOtv Plus channel 61 and DStv from DStv Family on channel 225.”

Ethiopia are fourth in the four-team group with three points. They are tied on points with third-placed Malawi, but are separated by goal difference.

They have played four games each. The Pharaohs of Egypt, who already booked a place at the continental showpiece, lead the group with 12 points from five matches while Guinea’s Syli Nationale are second with nine points also from five matches.
