Police in Mchinji have assured the business community of their property’s safety, saying they are working round the clock to ensure maximum security.

Mchinji Police Station officer-in-charge Owen Maganga made the assurance on Thursday during a parade to celebrate the Commissioner’s Trophy which they received last December after winning the Best Central Region Police Station Award.

He observed that Mchinji, as a border district, is strategically positioned for business activities, hence; the need for adequate security.

“Business flourishes well where there is adequate security. So, I assure businesspeople from within and outside the district that we will always maintain peace and order in the district,” he said.

Mchinji District Council director of administration Redgson Mkolombwe, who represented the district commissioner, urged stakeholders to continue working with the police as was the case during the past two years.

The parade also accorded the police an opportunity to thank the community for their support and also raise awareness on murder, drowning incidents, suicide, mob justice, sexual violence and violence against people with albinism.

Mchinji Police Station was voted as the 2018 best police station out of 12 police stations in the Central Region, an accolade it also received in 2017.
