The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has shifted its planned national interdenominational prayers from Wednesday to Thursday at Robins Park this week.

MEC chief elections officer Willie Kalonga said in a statement the change seeks to offer presidential candidates and other stakeholders, who would be attending presidential debates in Lilongwe this evening, an opportunity to attend the prayers.

“The other details about the event remain unchanged. All electoral stakeholders and the public are invited to these prayers that have been organised under the theme “Free, Fair And Peaceful Elections; Is Anything Too Hard For The Lord? (Genesis 18 vs 14),” said Kalonga.

Presidential candidates in the country’s May 20 Tripartite Elections are expected to attend a debate organised by a task force spearheaded by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (Misa) Malawi Chapter and approved by MEC on Tuesday evening at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
