Members asked to fend forpastors

Churches of Christ in Malawi last Sunday reminded their membership on their role to care for pastors.

Churches of Christ general secretary for Gowa Synod, Reverend McLloyd Bwanali, was speaking in Blantyre during induction of Reverend Lemani Kamdidi for Makhetha, Machinjili, Manase, Mpemba and Chiradzulu.

Bwanali said as Levites, pastors were not supposed to cultivate, but rather be fed by the members they serve.

“Biblically, we are not supposed to cultivate, but preach the gospel and help the needy in the church. However, the problem we have as a church is failure by members to pay tithe, thereby denying the house of the Lord of its requirements,” he complained.

He also cautioned the new minister against greed.

Kamdidi is one of the longest serving ministers in the churches and has served several churches in the country.
