Miss Malawi finalists groomed

Miss Malawi Organisation chief executive officer Bernadette Mweso says they believe that the grooming the 2025 Miss Malawi contestants have undergone will empower them to perform well during the grand finale.

She made the remarks on Saturday in Lilongwe during a masterclass led by former Miss Universe Zambia 2010 Alice Rowlands Musukwa aimed at building confidence and equpping the contestants with leadership skills.

She said partnering with Goshen City gave them an opportunity to have great pageant coaching from  international experts, including Zimbabwean fashion designer and pageant stylist Abiott Muwala and an internationally recognised pageant producer Jo Manuel.

Said Mweso: “The Goshen City Transformational Pageantry Masterclass has prepared Miss Malawi 2025 finalists for the grand finale set for December 13. People need to understand that pageantry is not only about beauty, it’s also about brains and purpose.

“These experts have trained the contestants in public presentation, stage management, fashion creation, production planning and effective communication skills, setting a new benchmark for pageantry excellence in Malawi”.

Weighing in, Rowlands-Musukwa said she noted progress among the finalists, describing them as “confident models showing possibilities of becoming vibrant”.

She encouraged the contestants to look beyond the competition, further urging the Miss Malawi Organisation to teach people and make them understand what pageantry is.

Said Rowlands-Musukwa: “These girls need to create their own brands to earn money apart from representing Malawi and just playing beauty queens.

“Most of our communities do not understand what modelling is, they think it’s a person with a beautiful face while in reality models represent the voice of the community in scenarios that the whole community cannot participate.”

The Miss Malawi finals is set to take place at the Pearl Convention Centre in Lilongwe. The winner will walk away with a price package value of K50 million, courtesy of Goshen City.
