Chadwick Mphande basked in golf glory after 14 years of trying when he outclassed a 42-strongfield to win the NBS Bank Monthly Mug at Country Club Limbe (CCL) on Saturday.

He counted out Yotamu Saka to the second slot with 42 stable-fold points. On top of that, he was the only contestant who got a two-club, which earned him a birdie on the 10th hole and a K10 000 prize.

Roza Mbilizi challenged Lilian Kawaza and Beatrice Mangwana with 36 points to get the crown in the ladies’ category.

However, it was Mphande who seemed the most excited golfer when he looked composed with his swing.

“I dedicate this title to golfers that are above 60 years old like me. Do not lose hope if it takes too long for you to win a title. If you fail, try again. As for me, it is nice to finally win today,” he said.

NBS Bank’s marketing and public relations manager Timothy Ngwira urged golfers to become agents of their newly established banking solution called Bank Pafupi.

“This innovative and inclusive banking solution means people can easily make banking transactions within their neighbourhoods through our agents who use point of sale machine on the bank’s behalf. I encourage you to become agents and earn fabulous commissions,” said Ngwira.
