Mpico Limited has new MD

Mpico Limited has appointed Peter du Plessis as the Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE)—listed property giant’s managing director.
He takes over from Gray Nthinda, who has been at the helm for the past years.
Mpico Limited board chairperson Dye Mawindo, in a statement, said du Plessis, a chartered accountant, brings a wealth of experience to Mpico group, having previously worked for Old Mutual Life Assurance Society from 1987 to 2012 in a number of capabilities, including those of regional property manager and managing director of Old Mutual Investment administrators.
Mpico is building a $40 million worth Gateway Shopping Mall in Lilongwe’s low density suburb of Area 47, whose construction deadline has been pushed further to March 2014 from October this year.
But Mawindo said: “Following the resumption of the Mpico Gateway project, Mr du Plessis’ appointment is particularly opportune as he is expected to bring his expertise to bear on expediting the completion of this much-awaited regional mall project previous unseen in this country.”
