Muluzi lauds democratic journey
Former president Bakili Muluzi has described the September 16 General Election as a landmark moment in the country’s democratic journey.
Casting his ballot at Nainunje Primary School in Machinga, the country’s first post-independence multi-party president reminded citizens that 31 years ago, they made history by voting for plural politics and they reaffirmed that commitment yesterday.
Said Muluzi: “Today is a very important day in the history of our democracy. Malawians are exercising the right to choose their leaders, just as they did in the 1993 referendum that ushered in multiparty politics.”
