Mzuzu-based movie crew Achievers Films Production has released a movie titled The Web, tackling the theme of HIV and Aids among the youth.
According to publicity secretary of the 10-member crew, Lyton Newa, the premiere has been scheduled for June 2, 2013 at the North Holiday Inn.
The Web has been written and directed by Newa, 20, assisted by 19-year-old Felix Kakangula.
The movie is the crew’s second production, following Mwalabu The Malawian Boy which came out in 2011.
“Our first production did not make any breakthrough on the market and so we improved on this particular production,” said Newa.
He cited lack of proper training, equipment and finances as challenges the crew is facing in realising their day to day operations.
Film Association of Malawi (Fama) president for the North, Joel Mkandawire, described the production as a positive development for the region.
The premiere will include drama, urban music performances and poetry recitals.
