NAO for enhanced independence
National Audit Office (NAO) says it is geared to improve its independence and that of the Auditor General (AG) as one way of improving its audit service delivery.
In this regard, NAO is from today hosting a two-day symposium to serve as a platform for interaction between NAO and its local and international stakeholders.
AG Stephenson Kamphasa, in a statement issued on October 20, said the symposium will be held in Lilongwe.
Reads the statement in part: “We believe in continuous improvement and we believe that we have to deliver high-quality audit services that will assure the nation that public resources have been utilised on purposes intended with due regard to economy, efficiency and effectiveness.”
During the symposium, Chief Secretary to the Government George Mkondiwa will launch the 2015-2019 NAO Strategic Plan.
The symposium is being financed by GIZ.
