National Bank powers MDF drill competition

 National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has donated K8.8 million to Malawi Defence Force (MDF) for its drill competition.

Receiving the cheque on Wednesday, MDF chief training Brigadier General Luke Yetala said the three-day competition throws off on May 1.  He said: “This donation helps us to make a step towards realising our budget of K168 million. This competition is very important to us because it reminds our soldiers who they are and they perfect their professionalism.”

Yetala receives (R) the dummy cheque from Gwembere

Yetala said Maritime, Army, Air Force and National Service will participate in the competition.

NBM Lilongwe Service  Centre manager Maureen Gwembere said they are obliged to support the competition because they have a good relation with with MDF.

She said: “We find this to be important because we are going to contribute towards strengthening discipline in our men in uniform since drill, also known as parade, is said to be very instrumental to their fitness that.”
