NBM plc drums up support for Scorchers

The Scorchers official sponsor National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has raised the hype for the team’s 2028 Olympic qualifier against Zimbabwe this afternoon at Bingu National Stadium (BNS) in Lilongwe.

NBM marketing and corporate affairs manager Akossa Mphepo-Hiwa in an interview on Wednesday in Blantyre said they stand firmly behind the team and remain committed to supporting the Scorchers’ Olympics campaign.

She said: “We are also calling on Malawians from all corners of the country to come and show their support for the Scorchers.

“This is an opportunity for the nation to celebrate our women, rally behind them and show our pride as they proudly carry the Malawian flag on the football pitch.

“We encourage football fans, families and communities to turn up in large numbers at the BNS and be the 12th player.”

NBM plc has also organised activities such as trivia questions on their Facebook page and street parades, with lucky individuals going away with various prizes including match tickets.

Scorchers captain Tabitha Chawinga in an interview said they appreciate the unwavering support they get from their sponsor and they will do their best to make them proud.

The Scorchers are returning to action after their impressive  performance at the recent Women’s African Cup of Nations finals in Morocco where they finished as runners-up on their debut appearance and qualified for the Fifa Women’s World Cup for the first time.
