New Silver board eyes greater heights

Silver Strikers Company Limited newly-appointed board says it plans to step up the club’s commercialisation drive.

The Bankers on Fr i d ay announced a newly-constituted nine-member board led by George Kaudza Masina, who has been retained as chairperson.

In an inter view yesterday, Kaudza Masina said: “It is a great honour for myself and the entire board to be trusted with the biggest club in the land and we don’t take it for granted.

“Moreover, to be given another term as board chair speaks volumes from the sponsor’s gesture.

“As a board, our biggest agenda will be to look at the players, technical staff and secretariat welfare which will turn into positive results on the ground. Over and above that, we want to take the commercialisation drive to another level by courting different stakeholders, which we already started and is bearing fruits.

“To sum it all, we want Silver to remain a disciplined club and fulfill the wishes of the sponsor and finally, to continue where we left off last season.”

A statement from the Reserve Bank of Malawi-sponsored outfit, signed by company secretary Peter Masiye, says the appointment of the new board follows the expiry of the previous board’s tenure .

Other directors in the new board are Chrispine Sibande, Miriam Zulu, Lameck Chinula, George Chiusiwa, Wezzie Kapindu, Happy Mzembe, Helbert Chidaya and Peter Pindani.

“The newly -appointed board members bring a wealth of experience and expertise to Silver Strikers Limited and the company is confident that their leadership will contribute to the company’s future success,” reads the statement.
