Flames versatile attacker Robin Ngalande has admitted struggling to stamp his playing authority at Ajax Cape Town where he is on a year-long loan from Bidvest Wits in the South Africa’s Absa Premiership.

Ngalande, who has expressed desire to nail down a permanent contract at Ajax beyond the current campaign, told the club’s website on February 17 2015 that he is finding it difficult to break into the first team on a regular basis.

“I feel good here at Ajax. It has been good to be part of the club so far. I have not played as much as I would have liked to but I am learning a lot about the club and how they play. It is difficult to break into the team because of the quality of players here, but I will get there,” Ngalande told www.ajaxct.co.za.

The former Civo United player joined Wits in 2012 from the youth side of Spanish club Atletico Madrid where he spent two seasons after spending a year with Mamelodi Sundowns’ development team.

The striker, who is in his 20s, joined Ajax at the start of the season on loan from Wits and has impressed head coach Roger De Sa and his technical team so far.

Ngalande, who the BBC once touted as the next Samuel Eto’o while at Madrid, rarely plays full games at Ajax. Compatriot Frank Gabadinho Mhango is also yet to play this month at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Robert Ng’ambi at Platinum Stars, Limbikani Mzava at Celtic and University of Pretoria’s Atusaye Nyondo are Malawian regulars in the South Africa top league whose standards many believe have improved a lot, thereby making it harder for average foreign players to impress. n
