Flames midfielder Robert Ng’ambi is reunited at South Africa’s Platinum Stars with returning coach Cavin Johnson who replaced sacked Allan Freese on Tuesday.

Ng’ambi, who has worked his way to fitness after injury struggles, reunited with Johnson who recruited him from Black Leopards a few years ago.

Johnson, who was removed at SuperSport United late last year, has eight matches to save Stars, who are on position 13 with 24 points earned in 22 games.

“We didn’t burn bridges when I left even though a lot of people assumed that was the case. The last couple of days have been hectic for me and I am grateful to this club for giving me the job again,” Johnson is quoted as saying.

Stars football manager Senzo Mazingisa told South Africa’s media that Johnson was readily available since he was unattached.

“The best option for us was Johnson because of what he has done for the club in the past and how quickly he would fit in, but we will review the contract after the eight games.”
