Nguluwe scoops Silver Strikers monthly award
Silver Strikers Ladies midfielder Madyina Nguluwe has won the club’s Player of the Month award for September following her impressive performance in the National Bank of Malawi Women’s Premiership.
The Lilongwe-based National Bank of Malawi Women’s Premiership champions named Nguluwe the winner of the award in senior women’s category while midfielder Blessings Phiri won in the reserve team category.

Defender Albert Phiri got the youth team accolade.
A statement posted on the club’s Facebook page and website, said Nguluwe got K200 000 from Pinnacle Financial Services and a K300,000 shopping voucher from CP Investment.
“Nguluwe emerged as the Ladies team’s winner after an impressive month, scoring two goals and providing two assists in three matches. In September, Silver Strikers Ladies faced Kukoma Ntopwa Queens, Chitoliro Heroines and MDF Lioness,” the club said.
She beat teammates Ireen Khumalo and Yamikani Mhango to the award.
In an interview, the Scorchers midfielder said she was excited to win the award for the first time.
In the reserves category, Malawi Under-20 midfielder Phiri received K100 000 after starting all three games of the month, edging out winger Hadji Dyton and midfielder Cosmas Lyton.
On the other hand, Albert Phiri, who received K100 000 as the youth team’s standout performer, beat goalkeeper Prince Phiri, who kept three clean sheets, and forward Nulu Jana, who scored three goals and provided two assists.
The statement said the club introduced the monthly awards scheme to recognise outstanding individual performances across the club’s ranks and to motivate players to maintain high standards.
The senior men’s team was excluded from the September awards after competing in only one match against FCB Nyasa Bullets during the month, according to the club.
