No bail for Chisale
Former president Peter Mutharika’s security aide Norman Chisale will remain on remand at Maula prison after High Court in Lilongwe denied him bail yesterday.
Chisale who was formally charged with the murder of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) director of corporate affairs Issa Njauju was not present at the court and was represented by his lawyer Chauncy Gondwe.
Judge Ivy Kamanga made the ruling in the chambers.
Spokesperson for Ministry of Justice Pilirani Masanjala confirmed that Chisale, who is answering other charges of fraud, mony laundering and attempted murder, was denied the bail. “We will wait for the court to set date for commencement of trial.”
Njauju’s was murdered on July 4 2015 and his body was discovered half buried near Presidential villas in Lilongwe.
