Nomads ‘board’ meet fails to take place
Mighty Wanderers FC board member Ernest Maganga says a board meeting which was scheduled to take place on Saturday was cancelled at the eleventh hour.
“It was cancelled because of some developments that occurred on Friday and Saturday,” he said.
Maganga said among others, the meeting was supposed to discuss a technical sponsorship deal which they have been
offered.
However, he could not be drawn to disclose the identity of the sponsor, saying that will be revealed once all the logistics are finalised.
He said: “Among others, this prospective sponsor is offering two sets of Adidas uniforms worth K3 million and four sets of Macron kits worth K4.5 million.
“It also includes 20 match balls [K2 million], 20 training balls [K1.3 million] saucer cones, cones, training kits and goalkeeper’s gloves.
“That is why some of us have been pushing for a board meeting so that we can discuss the offer as there are some conditions attached which include branding.
“Unfortunately, there are some people within the board who do not want us to meet for unexplained reasons and our hands are tied.
“So, under the circumstances, we have forwarded the issues to the football development management subcommittee headed by Brigadier General Phillip Nyamali for its perusal.”
Maganga also said they have been courting former Nyasa Big Bullets Burundian coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan on the prospects of getting him on board as head coach.
“He [Ramadhan] is ready to come upon the board’s approval,” he said.
But Nomads board secretary Humphrey Mvula yesterday said he was not aware of the technical sponsorship offer as the issue has not formally taken up with the board.
He said: “If indeed there is a prospective sponsor, then they should present him to the board through the relevant sub-committee.
“On the issue of the board meeting, it was already stated that at an appropriate time, we will have one. A board meeting is supposed to be called by the secretary and I was not aware of this particular meeting,”
