 Nomads coach in ‘mind games’

Listen to this article

Nyasa Big Bullets say they feel their fiece rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers coach Marh Harrison is up to some mind games by suggesting that the Nomads

are still way behind the People’s Team despite bolstering their squad.

The Nomads gaffer said this during the signing ceremony of their seventh new catch, defender Lawrence Chaziya on Thursday.

He said: “We have a quality squad now. A well balanced squad, no doubt about that.

“But I still maintain that it will take us a while to reach Bullets’ level. They are miles ahead.

“It’s not just about having quality players. The next step is to get the players adapt to the style that I want. It’s about changing their mindset to suit my system and it won’t come tomorrow morning.

Harrison: It will take
us a while

“Obviously, it will take a bit of time to get them gelled whereas Bullets are already in that groove.”

On how long the process could take, the 62-year-old tactician said: “I am not sure, it could take three months or six.

“I am not denying that we have a very good squad now. We have a deep squad, but we will have to be realistic in our expectations.”

He led the Nomads to the Airtel Top 8 glory just two months after taking over as head coach towards the end of the season. Harrison also won all his six games without conceding a goal.

Reacting to Harrison’s comments, Bullets chief administration officer Albert Chigoga said Harrison could be playing mind games

He said: “It’s not easy to understand the metrics that coach Harrison is using to make such conclusions.

“Nonetheless, it is very clear to appreciate the steps that Wanderers are taking to realise both sporting and corporate turnaround.

“We simply wish them well for the good of our game.”

He also brushed off suggestions that he is just up to some mind games.

But Harrison said he is not playing mind games.

He said:“Mind games [laughing]? No. It’s just the way I look at it, period.” said Harrison.

Apart from Chaziya, who signed as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Jordan top-flight side Al Hussein Irbid, the Lali Lubani Road outfit has also signed red-hot winger Gaddie Chirwa from Blue Eagles, goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa and defender Emmanuel Nyirenda from Mighty Wakawaka Tigers, midfielder Mphatso Kamanga from Karonga United and striker Christopher Kumwembe from Civil Service United.

They are also set to release 10 players.

On the other hand, Bullets have signed midfielder Chawanangwa Gumbo from Ekwendeni Hammers and striker Gastin Phodo from Silver Strikers.

The People’s Team have parted ways with midfield maestro Chimwemwe Iadana and strikers Misheck Selemani and Hassan Kajoke
