As Mighty Wanderers fans staggered in the mist of disappointment after their team’s 3-0 loss at the hands of Kamuzu Barracks (KB) on Sunday, they fell prey to emotions and had a go at the Stuart Mbolembole-led coaching panel.

Having already suffered two defeats in the last three games, some Nomads fans could not take the latest defeat to KB. After the game in Balaka, they were overheard chanting songs disapproving of Mbolembole and team manager Chiyembekezo Zidana.

Wachepa Mbolembole…Wachepa Zidana, Simungayikwanitse Noma!” (Mbolembole and Zidana you are too young to manage Wanderers),” the fans chanted.

But the Nomads general secretary David Kanyenda said the club’s executive committee has not discussed the fate of the coaches.

He, however, admitted that the poor run is a cause for concern.

The team’s leadership is reported to have called for an emergency meeting at their clubhouse last evening.

But Kanyenda was quick to dismiss suggestions that the meeting was to discuss the fate of the coaches.

“We are indeed meeting later today, but the meeting has not been called to discuss the future of the coaching panel. We hold such meetings regularly with the supporters committee and the technical panel,” said Kanyenda who also heads the technical panel.

On his part, Mbolembole said while the poor run is a cause for worry, he is not under pressure.

“We just need to go back to the drawing board and find solutions to the technical and tactical problems,” he said.

He blamed the recent losses on defensive errors and poor communication between the goalkeeper and the defence.

Wanderers lost to Red Lions in post-match penalties in the Presidential Cup then beat Evirom before going down to Blue Eagles and Kamuzu Barracks in league games.
