Nomads lose to Songo in mini tourney final
Mighty Wanderers yesterday lost 1-0 to their hosts Uniao Desportiva (UD) Songo in the final of a four-team mini tournament at Campol Sul Stadium in Tete Province.
The hosts scored the lone goal of the match in the 53rd minute through Luis Miquissone.
The Nomads were the first to settle down, forcing a corner-kick in as early as the second minute which did not bear fruit.

After shaking off some early leathargy, Songo launched their first attack through former Nomads pacy winger Yamikani Chester whose effort went off target.
From then on, it was end-to-end stuff as both teams created a plethora of chances, but sadly failed to make them count and the two teams went for recess goalless.
Songo broke the deadlock through Miquissone’s shot that gave Nomads goaltender Richard Chipuwa no chance.
As time ticked on, Nomads coach Bob Mpinganjira made a change, taking off last season’s TNM Super League top scorer Isaac Kaliyati for new-signing Blessings Mwalilino.
In the 82nd minute Mwalilino had a chance to level the scores after being set up by Wisdom Mpinganjira, but the former produced a weak shot that was easily saved by the host side’s ‘keeper.
As desperation took a toll on the Nomads, they made a double substitution, taking off captain Lawrence Chaziya and Mpinganjira for Chimwemwe Nkhoma and Francisco Madinga respectively, but UD Songo stood firm.
In a post-match interview, Nomads coach Bob Mpinganjira said the mini tournament helped them identify their weak areas.
“Wwe have spotted some weak areas that we need to work on,” he said.
In an earlier match, Civil Service (Civo) United and Chingale FC played out a two-all draw. Chifundo Damba and Dustan Banda were on tsrget for the Civil Servants.
The Nomads qualified for the final after beating Chingare 3-2 while UD Songo edged Civo 1-0 on Saturday.
