Nomads, Silver humbled by goodwill gesture
Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers say they are humbled by the goodwill gesture as they prepare for their Confederation of African Football (CAF) inter-club tournaments preliminary round campaigns.
The Nomads host Jwaneng Galaxy of Botswana in the preliminary round first leg of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup this Sunday at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe while the Bankers travel to Mauritius to face Malagasy side Elgeco Plus at the same stage of the CAF Chmpions League.
FCB Nyasa Bullets and Ekhaya FC have issued statements of goodwill to their fellow TNM Super League sides as they set out on their respective continental campaigns.

Part of the statement from FCB Nyasa Bullets, reads: “While we are rivals in domestic competitions, on the African stage, we stand behind Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers.
“Their participation not only reflects the strength of their respective clubs, but also contributes to raising the profile of Malawian football within the African game.
“We wish Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers every success in their respective campaigns. May they carry the hopes of every Malawian with pride, discipline and determination.”
On their part, the Cowboys said: “Ekhaya FC offers its warmest support to fellow TNM Super League clubs, Silver Strikers and Mighty Wanderers.
“We are proud to see you represent the country on the international stage and we have every confidence you will make the nation proud. Vamos Bankers! Come on Nomads!”
Reacting to the gestures, Wanderers board director David Kanyenda said: “We are truly humbled by their gesture of goodwill. That is how it should be.
“We [alongside Bullets] are the two oldest teams in Malawi football and we are looking forward to doing great things together as we take Malawi football to another level both on and off the pitch.”
On the other hand, Silver chief executive officer Patrick Chimimba, said: “As a club, we are very humbled by their gesture and show of true sportsmanship exhibited by all who have wished us well.”
He also said Silver are thankful to the management of Bullets who opened their doors “for us to learn how a team prepares for these kind of competitions”.
Said Chimimba: “It’s a gesture that cannot be taken lightly and shows that despite our domestic rivalry, when we compete continentally, we are representing Malawian football.
“We will go to compete in Africa, knowing full well that we have the full support of our fellows.”
Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has also wished the two teams well.
The flagship league runners’ general secretary Williams Banda said: “We congratulate them for joining the CAF competitions and extend our heartfelt wishes in the tournament.”
