Ntopwa FC owner and sponsor Isaac Jomo Osman said he is comfortable with teams his team will face in Group A of the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifiers.

They have been drawn in Group A alongside Green Buffaloes (Zambia), Double Action Ladies (Botswana) and Lesotho Defence Force.

Osman: We want to reach knock out stages

“We are very excited with the draw and looking forward to participating. We are not sweating, but we are calm and focused. We want to go far in this competition,” he said.

Football Association of Malawi competitions and media director Gomezgani Zakazaka has described the group as tough.

“It’s a tough group. They are together with defending champions. So, it will not be easy. But with proper preparations they can do well and pull a surprise to reach the knockout stages,” he said.

Eight clubs will compete in Durban from August 30  to September 8, with the winners representing the region in Ivory Coast where the CAF Women’s Champions League is set to take place in November.

Green Buffaloes are the current Cosafa champions after beating the then champions, Sundowns Ladies in Durban last year through a 6-5 penalty shoot-out, following an evenly contested 0-0 stalemate. But Jomo is not deterred with such formidable opponents.
