Odya Zake has solid structures—Usi

Vice-President Michael Usi says his newly-launched party Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu has area committees composed of registered voters in all districts across the country.

Usi, who is president of the party made the remarks on Friday when he engaged members of the party at Muliba in Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje.

He said: “We are not using loudhailers to mobilise people or transporting our supporters in lorries.

Usi encouraged members of Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu to be focused on the upcoming September 2025 General Election and to promote unity and tolerance.

Speaking during the meeting, Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu governor for Mulanje Elijah Somanje thanked Usi for reviving the party after leaving UTM.

He said the area committees in the district will continue mobilising people to join the party.

Usi’s Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu, then a movement, went into oblivion in February 2019 when former vice-president Saulos Chilima picked him as his running mate in the nullified 2019 presidential election.

On April 27, Usi launched Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu as a political party with pomp but it later emerged that the unit is not registered under Political Parties Act.

Registrar of Political Parties Kizito Tenthani confirmed to The Nation  that his office has not issued any registration certificate to the grouping.

Usi pulled out of the UTM presidential race last November while serving as president, having replaced Chilima who died in a plane crash last June.
