Malera said the clinics seek to empower communities and enhance accountability as one way of helping tackle maladministration and promote good governance.

She said: “We will civic-educate people in rural areas on how to identify and report maladministration issues that cause injustice when communities seek services from public offices such as health facilities, agriculture and education.”

Chitipa District Council director of economic planning and development Philemon Maseko thanked the Office of the Ombudsman for targeting communities in Chitipa with mobile accountability clinics.

He said communities will be empowered to demand improved service delivery.

She said governance lessons empower communities to demand their rights.

The European Union funded the accountability clinics.
