Rapper Phyzix has been announced as the brand ambassador for the newly launched global sports betting company 888 Bet.
The artist was unveiled in Blantyre on Tuesday during the launch of the company.
In an interview, the rapper said he is excited and humbled to be given the role. Phyizx said the recognition shows that people are able to appreciate the hard work that he is putting in his craft.
He said: “Any such recognition only shows that we are doing something good and commendable.
“From the essence of the word ambassador, an ambassador is someone who represents the culture of that particular establishment. I have been engaged because of the following I command. It is my responsibility to be communicating with my fan base on responsible betting.”
In his remarks, 888 Bet country manager Clement Phiri said after studying the Malawian landscape, they needed to have someone to share and propel their ideals and Phyzix ticked al the boxes of what they wanted to achieve.
“We need someone who is connected to the people and who can help us promote that culture. Giving back to the community is one of our core values. Phyzix has done this before and we believe he is going to do a good job for us as well,” said Phiri.
He said they are looking at the partnership not only as sports betting, but they will go in the communities to see how they can help promote arts and culture.
Malawi becomes 888 Bet seventh market in Africa after other countries such as Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola. The company also has operations in Europe and America. He said: “We are set for the Malawian market. The services that we are offering on our platform are second to none.
