FDH Bank says it will spoil the Flames’ with K3 million if they beat Uganda’s Cranes tomorrow in the the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

FDH Group’s head of marketing and communication Levie Nkunika on Saturday said a victory will ensure that each of the 30 Flames squad members has an investment account with K100 000 deposited in it.

“As Flames’ official sponsor and number one supporter, FDH is committed to spoil the team if they win their crucial game against Uganda. This is a very crucial moment for Malawi football as winning this game means qualification for Afcon finals,” he said.

“We hope the boys will leverage on this initial deposit and build a solid investment portfolios. We are aware most of the players in the squad play professional football and this is a perfect vehicle to invest for the future.”

Nkunika said they are proud of the progress the Flames  have made, especially beating South Sudan in the penultimate qualifier.

Nkunika said: “We know how crucial the game against Uganda is, hence our decision to motivate the boys.

“We are proud to be associated with the Flames and we wish the team all the best on Monday.

“We are rooting for you and we are calling upon all Malawians to support the team. Go Flames, make them see red. We are going to Afcon!”

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) president Walter Nyamilandu described FDH Bank’s promise as a big motivation for the national team.

“The stakes are very high and we need the players to be motivated. We thank FDH for coming up with the mouth-watering pledge on top of their annual sponsorship.

The bank’s pledge comes a few days after Capital Oil refining Industry (Cori) also promised to replenish the Flames with K5 million if they win.

FDH is the official sponsor of the Flames, pumping K60 million annually into the national team and K90 million into the FDH Bank Cup.
