Listen to this article

Residents of Manase Township and other surrounding areas in Blantyre were all smiles on Sunday as they welcomed a police unit constructed in the area.

The police unit has been built  with financial and material support from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), the community and Blantyre City South Member of Parliament Moses Kunkuyu, who is also Minister of Information.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, group village head Martin and Traditional Authority Somba described the opening of the unit as a solution to criminal acts which they said were rampant in Manase and surrounding areas.

Chairperson for Nancholi Residents Association, and one of the key players in the  construction of the police unit, Stanford Sokosa, hailed the development, saying for a long time, townships of Nancholi, Manase, Kampala, Kubaluti and Chadzunda, among others, have had no police unit; hence, insecure.—Mana
