Project installs 21 water taps in Rumphi

Sustainable Food Systems for Rural Agriculture Transformation and Resilience (Transform) Programme has installed 21 water taps in 21 villages under Traditional Authority Mwalweni in Rumphi District.

Speaking on Tuesday during a media tour of the area organised by the Norwegian Church Aid and Dan Church Aid which coordinate the programme, group village head Mwagongwe said people used to drink water from unprotected sources.

“The availability of clean and potable water will enhance personal hygiene among people,” he said.

A community member Linda Mponela said most wells became contaminated during the rainy season.
